History: R. Lahav-Rigg Architects

Since the Jerusalem based partnership, R. Lahav - T. Rigg Architects and Town Planners, was founded in 1979, it has dealt with large scale projects in the areas of building design and town planning. The wide spectrum of projects includes public buildings, senior citizen housing projects, offices and hi-tech buildings, residential neighbourhoods, public and educational institutes, commercial centers, hotels, and industrial zones.

Since 2002 the office operates in a different format: R. Lahav-Rigg Architects and Town Planners Inc. in Tel Aviv, managed by Ruth Lahav; Tony Rigg Architects in Jerusalem.

Works

The partnership's work includes many different town planning projects, including an extension to the city of Ma'ale Adumim, and new neighbourhoods in Mevasseret Zion, Beer-Sheva, Mevo Beitar/ Zur Hadassa; an industrial zone and municipal area in Sha'ar Hanegev, and an industrial zone plan for specific technical facilities such as evaporation pools and a sewage treatment plant. The partnership also deals with detailed local town plans for small scale planning changes.

Green Design

The partnership specializes in Green Architecture, in climatic and enviromental design, and in energy conscious architectural design. This is manifest in many different projects, such as: "Nofim" - a senior citizen housing project in Jerusalem; Luz Hi-tech Industries headquarters in Jerusalem; an IDF industrial sewing factory; the regional government administration center in Beer-Sheva, and in town planning projects as well as various private houses.

Great care is given to integrating the clients needs into the design while using appropriate technologies and observing the climatic, enviromental and sociological aspects of each project.

Academic work & Publications

The partners have been invited to lecture world wide in universities and conferences, and have a wide web of proffesional contacts in the area of climatic design and green building. Since 1989 Tony Rigg and Ruth Lahav are the directors of the UIA (Union Internationale des Architectes) Architecture and Energy work programe.

Ruth Lahav has been teaching Climate and Green Architecture courses for many years, in Bezalel Academy in Jerusalem, The Technion in Haifa and lately in Shenkar school of Design in Ramat-Gan.
